Update on COVID-19 – April 7, 2020
We appreciate your support and understanding to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to our friends and family members within our community and country.
Due to the extension of shelter in place order by San Mateo County until May 3rd, all of the regularly scheduled routine eye appointments will be canceled – we will reach out to reschedule.
During these times it is critical that we preserve our emergency rooms for conditions that are best managed there. To update you on the status of emergency eye care during these difficult times: our doctor will continue to be available for red eyes, sudden vision changes, eye injuries, and other urgent issues for both established and new patients.
We are here to help you and stay committed to offering you the best care possible with convenient access. For now, coming in to see us may not be possible, but we can still see and help you through telehealth examinations. If you’re not sure what your specific needs are, feel free to call/text or email us at 650-654-2015 or info@familyeyeco.com.
If you are running low on contacts please let us know as our doctor has pre-approved to extend your prescription due to the unforeseen circumstances. As your contact lens supplies run out, we can order and drop-ship a supply of contact lenses directly to your home while offering free shipping during this time.
Although our optical will be closed until further notice, we are currently offering curbside delivery to reduce the traffic and exposure through the office. Just call us when you arrive and we’ll bring your items right out to you. Also, if your eyeglasses break and need to berepaired – we can help.
Taking all these necessary precautions will allow the walk-in clinics and emergency rooms to be available for those affected with COVID-19. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation in keeping everyone safe and healthy.
Please call our office with any questions or concerns, we are always here for you!
Wishing you the best of health,
Alina Kagan, O.D.

Before 3/16/2020
Family Eye Center Optometry has always been committed to the health and the safety of our patients, our staff, and our community.
Because of the current spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to assure you that it has been our commitment for years to sterilize each piece of equipment either immediately before or immediately after each
use to insure no germs are spread from one patient to another. We have always been proud of this commitment.
Please also be assured that we also sterilize each eyeglass frame after our patients try them on, so for us…it remains ‘business as usual’ and please be assured that we’ve got your back!
While cleanliness has always been a top priority of our practice, we are also increasing our frequency in which ‘high touch’ areas will be cleaned and sterilized, such as our reception chairs and tables as well as our restrooms and children’s toys. You’ll notice that we have also removed magazines from our reception area to help ensure a sterile environment.
Additionally, we continue to practice good hygiene by demanding our doctors and staff to wash their hands frequently with anti-bacterial soap or to use a high-percentage alcohol hand sanitizer.
We are actively monitoring both local and national information about the Coronavirus and are continuing to do everything we can to keep our practice a clean and safe environment for you and your family.
Family Eye Center Optometry will continue to closely monitor COVID-19 and will follow the guidelines provided by local and national organizations like the CDC and WHO, and can assure you that our practice remains a safe place to continue your uninterrupted eye health care.
We felt it important to keep you updated, and If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to give us a call.
Thank you for being such a valued patient,
Alina Kagan, O.D.
